Myths about Thai food
1. All Thai food is spicy
This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions. Although Thai food contains some of the spiciest food in the world, there’s actually many Thai dishes that are not spicy! Also a lot of Thai restaurants have the option of letting customers choose how spicy their meal is. So if you’re not a fan of spicy food, there’s still plenty of options for you to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine.
2. Thai food is eaten with chopsticks
Chopsticks are normally only used to eat noodles! Everything else is eaten with a spoon and fork.
3. Thai food is really fancy and expensive
Thai food contains a lot of herbs and ingredients but it doesn’t mean it has to be complicated. In fact, Thailand is one of the most famous places for street food.
4. There are no vegan/ vegetarian/ gluten free options
There are lots of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options when eating Thai food. Tofu and tempeh are a great substitute if you’re looking for meat- free options.
5. Thai food is unhealthy.
While some Thai dishes are deep fried, traditional Thai food is actually one of the healthiest and nutritional cuisines you can eat, with most dishes including fresh herbs and spices, vegetables, lean proteins and lots of goodness!
